Zombie Groans

The main form of zombie communication lies in their groans. These groans allow zombies to 'talk' to one another over long distances, informing each other of where to attack or regroup. While all zombies in range instinctively know what type of groan was made, nearby citizens can only tell if they've bought the Recognize Groans skill from the Basic Citizen skill tree.

Feeding groans are the zombies main way of telling other zombies in the area that they've found citizens to be eaten. The feeding groan is unique in that it can only be used when in the presence of citizens. The range of a feeding groan is based on a number of factors; the number of citizens present, and the skill of the zombies groan. The furthest range (7 x 7) can only be reached after purchasing the Improved Groans skill. Using this groan costs 1 EP.

Rage cries are the most basic zombie groans that -unlike feeding groans- can be used anywhere at any point in time. This freedom enables rage cries to become a 'jack of all trades' groan used for situations other than communicating where citizens are located. Emitting a rage cry costs 2 EP. The groan ranges and skill requirements are as follows:

Pack call is a groan unique to the Smart Zombie class, and like the rage cry, can be used at any point and time. Also unique to the groan is its ability to instigate responding groans from other nearby zombies. Responding groans from fellow zombies in a players groups will be listed as familiar. Pack calls cost 2 EP to perform. While Citizens can hear the responding groans, they cannot tell the exact number that have responded.
